Hare Krishna is still a cult.

Hmmm. Here terminology should be used correctly:

The Hare Krishna Movement, known as taxevading organisations ISKCON and Gaudiya Matha who are run by those leaders of its GBC who are themselves childabusers or are protecting childabusers, are responsible together with their blind “followers/disciples/sympatists” in combination with the entire western society leadership and citizenships who simply let them continue this abuse!

This is a more correct statement. What do you think?

What is the difference between a cult religion and a universal religion?

Here is the answer to one Hindu why adi-yogi (the dark guy who is powerful and liberated for some of the time) is not just a human, or an enlightened guy with great knowledge and strength:

“This dark guy had no rivalry in the history of humankind. And whoever tried to overpower him, he ended with defeat. No one except this dark guy could say that he is the Absolute Truth, one without the second, the Supreme Being, or the Supreme Personality of Godhead. This information was given by the dark guy in Bhagavad-gita As It Is. He does not relate only to Hindus, but to the whole human race. When he spoke Bhagavad-gita all the kings from all over the world, not only India, were present as the audience. This makes the difference between Bhagavad-gita and other modern religions in the world, like Christianity, Islam and others. Therefore Bhagavad-gita is a universal religion, not sectarian, like Hinduism, Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Communism, Capitalism, etc. It is meant for all human race. And all living beings in general. This shows the greatness of the character the dark guy, incomparable to even Lord Jesus, Lord Buddha, Prophet Mohammad, Karl Marx, Adam Smith etc. He thought the men the universal religion, applicable to all people for all times and all places on earth and beyond. Those who are the most intelligent will take his instructions as the king of all knowledge. And, as it is commonly known, the knowledge will set you free. And what to speak of the highest knowledge.”

So, the question is if “Hare Krishna is still cult.” The short answer is no, and it was never a cult.

The long answer is that Hare Krishna religion is based on Bhagavad-gita As It Is, which is universal, since it was spoken by Lord Krishna 5,000 years ago, and even millions of years before that, to the sun-god Vivasvan, and even before that time. Then how Hare Krishna religion can be said that it is cult? How can anyone within such a long time span speak on the same knowledge to different personalities on different planets?

What is the main difficulty is that there are many who want to be competitors and rivals to Lord Krishna, nowadays especially the so-called gurus within ISKCON, who demand that their disciples and followers surrender to them, prey to them, wash them and worship them. Otherwise their chanting of Hare Krishna maha-mantra will have no effect and will go into vain, or at least one will not achieve the ultimate goal of life by chanting this maha mantra. This is what creates a cult religion, and the reason why Hare Krishna is considered (still) a cult by those who are less intelligent.

The root cause of all the problems in ISKCON is the conspiracy of guru-disciple relationship, or guru tattva.

Those who are familiar with Christian religion know what is meant by a disciplic succession:

    John 8:31-32

31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

There is a condition and a consequence. Jesus is talking to those who believe what he says. That is the first criteria.

The second criteria is that the believer must abide in, or live in, or constantly read and meditate on, the Word of God.

That behavior will lead to them truly being disciples of Jesus. They will, by revelations, know the truth about things around them. They will hear clearly from the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit who lives in them, and the truth he brings will bring them freedom, or “make them free”.

This is something ISKCON cult will never understand or accept. Why? Because they are envious of Jesus Christ, and ultimately Lord Krishna, who is the Father of Lord Jesus Christ.

    • OneMind:

Forgot to mention that it is Srila Prabhupada and only Srila Prabhupada, and no one else, on this whole planet, who revealed the lost knowledge of universal or eternal religion, or sanatana-dharma. The knowledge of all other religions, cults, sects, educational systems, isms, etc. have become crystallized only due to the vast influence of Srila Prabhupada. Therefore all credits should be given to Srila Prabhupada.

Beside Srila Prabhupada all other departments of knowledge or religion are incomplete or diluted. It is therefore recommended that one who is intelligent or brahma-jijnasi should accept and follow Srila Prabhupada’s instructions.

Srila Prabhupada is not physically present on this earth, but he lives in his original books, true followers and disciples who follow his instructions with faith and devotion.

There is no need to follow other systems of religion or become a learned scholar, politician, philosopher, priest or a scientist to become a successful man or woman.

And what is a real success? To become a rich man is sure a great success. To get married or to go to heaven is also a great success. To become free from the miseries or sufferings of the material body is also a great success. To get extraordinary powers like mystic yogis is a success. But they are all temporary and they do not give the full satisfaction in heart.

This knowledge of how to come to the ultimate success in life is given by Srila Prabhupada. And it is not a great secret also. It is freely available to everyone. And it is not demanding. There are no preconditions to be fulfilled. No hidden fees. No payments. Nothing at all. This knowledge is the greatest of all, because it is completely free for everyone. One should only take it. How simple as this.

Then how Hare Krishna religion can be considered a cult?

It is better to say that all other religions or institutions (including ISKCON) with countless contradictory demands, needs and policies should be called a cult. This is the true definition of a cult, which Hare Krishna religion is certainly not.

Bhakti-yoga which begins with hearing of the glories of Lord Visnu from Bhagavad-gita As It Is and Srimad-Bhagavatam cannot be considered a cult.
